Early Years Practitioner - #2115292

You’ll be part of our Early Years Perinatal Childcare Service, creating a warm, safe and nurturing space for babies and young children while their parents get the support they need.

Based in Edinburgh city centre, you’ll support babies and young children during their time with us, getting to know their individual needs and helping them feel safe, settled and comfortable. You’ll also work closely with parents, carers and colleagues as part of a supportive team.

What you’ll do

• Provide a safe, welcoming and stimulating environment for babies and young children
• Support each child’s wellbeing, development and individual needs
• Build positive relationships with children, parents and carers
• Recognise and respond to the different ways babies and young children communicate
• Support families with sensitivity and without judgement
• Share relevant information with parents, carers and colleagues
• Follow safeguarding, SSSC, Care Inspectorate and CrossReach standards

About you

You’ll have experience of working with young children and be warm, patient and confident in responding to their individual needs. You’ll be comfortable building relationships with parents and carers, including those who may be going through a difficult time, and you’ll work well both independently and as part of a team. You’ll hold an SVQ Level 2/HNC in Childcare or equivalent qualification, or be willing to work towards one, and be registered, or able to register, with the SSSC.

Previous experience in a perinatal service isn’t essential. We’re looking for someone with good Early Years practice, sound judgement and a thoughtful approach to working with children and families.

This role requires membership of the PVG Scheme.
