Are you experienced in insurance and confident building relationships with customers? We’re looking for a Motor Trade Renewal Handler to join our team in Edinburgh, managing a portfolio of existing clients and helping deliver positive outcomes throughout the insurance renewal journey.

This is a great opportunity for someone with experience in insurance broking, underwriting, renewals or a customer focused insurance environment who enjoys speaking with customers, building relationships and finding the right solutions.

The Role

As a Motor Trade Renewal Handler, you’ll take ownership of a portfolio of motor trade insurance renewals from initial invitation through to completion.

You’ll proactively engage with customers ahead of their renewal dates, understand any changes in their circumstances and insurance requirements, and work with insurers where necessary to secure appropriate renewal terms.

Customer retention will be a key focus. You’ll build strong relationships with clients, identify potential barriers to renewal and provide a professional and consultative service that delivers positive outcomes for both the customer and the business.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Managing a portfolio of motor trade insurance renewals from invitation through to completion
• Proactively contacting customers to discuss renewal terms, changing circumstances and insurance requirements
• Building strong relationships with clients and delivering excellent customer service
• Identifying potential barriers to renewal and using appropriate retention strategies
• Negotiating renewal terms with insurers where required
• Processing renewals accurately and ensuring documentation is issued promptly
• Maintaining regular contact with customers to secure renewal decisions and minimise policy lapses
• Clearly explaining policy coverage, exclusions, endorsements and terms
• Identifying opportunities to introduce additional products and services where appropriate
• Handling customer enquiries and complaints professionally and efficiently
• Supporting vulnerable customers in line with company and regulatory requirements
• Contributing towards team retention, income and productivity targets
• Maintaining accurate and complete records of customer interactions and policy changes
• Ensuring activity meets FCA, Consumer Duty, TCF, GDPR and company requirements

What We’re Looking For

• Experience within insurance broking, underwriting or a customer service environment
• Previous experience handling personal lines, commercial or motor trade insurance renewals would be advantageous
• Experience working towards customer service, retention or sales targets
• Confident communicating with customers over the telephone and by email
• Excellent customer service and relationship-building skills
• Ability to influence and retain customers through professional, consultative conversations
• Strong organisational and time management skills
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
• Commercial awareness and a customer-focused approach
• Ability to manage and prioritise your own workload
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Comfortable using Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team

A Cert CII qualification would be advantageous, although we're also interested in candidates who are willing to work towards professional insurance qualifications and continue developing their industry knowledge.
