This would suit an experienced Technical Manager, Quality Manager or senior technical professional who has worked within a fast-paced food manufacturing environment and is comfortable leading audits, managing customer relationships and working closely with Operations.
The Role
- Leading the site technical agenda and working closely with Operations to maintain high standards of food safety, quality and legality.
- Acting as HACCP Team Leader and ensuring robust food safety controls are maintained across the manufacturing operation.
- Leading and coordinating external audits, customer visits and technical inspections.
- Maintaining site audit readiness and ensuring non-conformances and corrective actions are effectively closed out.
- Acting as a key technical contact for customers and external audit bodies.
- Driving day-to-day factory technical standards including GMP, foreign body controls, and general manufacturing standards.
- Managing internal audit, verification and traceability programmes.
- Leading investigations into significant complaints, incidents, product holds and withdrawals, ensuring effective root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Overseeing sampling, testing and environmental monitoring programmes.
- Manage the site Environmental Management System, ensuring compliance with environmental legislation, retailer requirements and reporting targets.
- Supporting new product launches and ensuring appropriate process controls are established and maintained.
- Driving the site's food safety and quality culture, working closely with colleagues across Technical and Operations.
- Leading, coaching and developing members of the technical team.
- Supporting the site's environmental management programme and associated compliance requirements.
About You
We are looking for someone with:
- Previous technical or quality management experience within food manufacturing.
- Strong working knowledge of HACCP, food safety, quality and factory technical standards.
- Experience leading or supporting retailer and third-party audits.
- Confidence dealing directly with customers, auditors and senior site stakeholders.
- Previous experience leading, coaching or developing technical/quality colleagues.
- Strong investigation, root cause analysis and corrective action experience.
- Level 3 HACCP or above.
- Level 4 Food Hygiene.
- Internal Auditor training.
- Good knowledge of retailer Codes of Practice.
The Opportunity
This is an opportunity to take a senior technical position within an established food manufacturing operation, with responsibility for both day-to-day factory standards and the longer-term development of the site's technical function.
The position offers significant interaction with Operations, customers and the wider leadership team and would suit someone who enjoys being visible within the factory rather than operating solely from a systems or compliance perspective.
