Founding Trustee - Edinburgh Mental Health Charity - #2160010
Time Honoured
Founding Trustee — Time Honoured
Location: Edinburgh, with online participation
Role: Voluntary
About Time Honoured
Time Honoured is a proposed Scottish charity creating supported pathways for people experiencing mental health challenges to take meaningful next steps, contribute to their communities, develop personally and experience positive recognition.
Our initial programme in North Edinburgh will combine flexible volunteering, personal development and relationship-based support from Community Co-ordinators. Participants will receive Impact Credits recognising their participation, which they can use to access positive experiences offered by local partners.
We are recruiting our founding Board of Trustees to help turn this vision into a well-governed, sustainable organisation.
The role
As a founding trustee, you will help shape Time Honoured from the outset. Working alongside fellow trustees and the founder, you will:
- Shape the charity’s strategy, priorities and development.
- Support its establishment, governance and financial oversight.
- Help ensure safeguarding, participant wellbeing and inclusion are central to its work.
- Contribute to funding plans, partnerships and long-term sustainability.
- Review progress and help us understand the difference the programme makes.
- Ensure the views of people with lived experience inform decisions.
This is an opportunity to bring your judgement, experience and ideas to a new organisation at a formative stage.
Who we are looking for
We welcome people from a range of backgrounds, particularly those with experience in one or more of the following:
- Mental health, community development or the third sector.
- Lived experience of mental health challenges.
- Finance, accountancy or financial management.
- Charity governance, legal matters or safeguarding.
- Fundraising, corporate partnerships or business development.
- Volunteering, peer support or participant involvement.
- Evaluation, communications or organisational development.
Previous trustee experience is welcome but is not essential. We value thoughtful people who share our purpose, can contribute constructively and are willing to take responsibility collectively.
Time commitment
The role involves attending regular board meetings, reading papers in advance and contributing occasional advice or support between meetings. Some additional involvement will be needed during the initial establishment phase. Meeting arrangements and expectations will be agreed with the founding board. 3-5 hours per month.
What you will gain
You will help shape a new Edinburgh initiative focused on purpose, recognition and belonging, working with a committed founder and a growing network of supportive organisations.
How to apply
Please send a brief expression of interest outlining your background, why Time Honoured interests you and what you could bring to the board.
