Finance Manager - #2163152
Conifox Ltd
About the role
We're looking for a hands-on Finance Manager to run the day-to-day finances of Conifox Adventure Park, from the ledgers through to monthly management accounts.
Conifox is a family visitor attraction near Edinburgh, running year-round activities alongside seasonal festival events. That means exciting capital projects, busy peak trading periods and a varied mix of income streams — so this role suits someone who enjoys owning the numbers and turning them into clear, practical insight for the management team.
You'll be the go-to person for finance across the business, keeping the books accurate, compliance on time and cash under control.
Key responsibilities
Ledgers and bookkeeping
- Maintain accurate purchase, sales and nominal ledgers, including sales and supplier invoices, ticketing platform integration and journals
- Process and reconcile bank, cards and online booking/EPOS takings daily
- Manage supplier payment runs and credit control
Working capital and cash management
- Prepare and maintain rolling cash flow forecasts, anticipating seasonal peaks and quieter months
- Manage debtor and creditor positions, payment terms and stock levels to protect cash
- Flag funding needs or surplus cash early
Management accounting and reporting
- Produce monthly management accounts, including P&L, balance sheet and variance analysis against budget
- Assist with the annual budgeting process and reforecasts during the year
- Analyse margins and performance by activity, event and income stream to support decisions
Balance sheet reconciliations and month-end
- Run a timely month-end close
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts monthly, including bank, VAT, payroll control, accruals, prepayments, deferred income and fixed assets
- Maintain the fixed asset register and depreciation schedule
VAT and compliance
- Prepare and submit quarterly VAT returns
- Stay on top of VAT treatment for admissions, events, retail and food & beverage
- Prepare year-end files and liaise with external accountants to produce statutory accounts
Payroll
- Run payroll accurately, including a seasonal and part-time workforce
- Manage PAYE/RTI submissions, pension auto-enrolment, starters and leavers, holiday pay and P45s/P60s/P11Ds
- Make sure staff are paid correctly and on time
Other related duties
- Improve and document finance processes, controls and use of systems
- Support management team with ad hoc analysis, insurance, leases and finance-related projects
- Carry out other reasonable duties in line with the role
About you

- Confident with balance sheet reconciliations and month-end close
- Experience with cloud accounting software (Xero) and very strong Excel skills

Desirable
- Experience in hospitality, leisure, tourism or events, particularly with seasonal trading
