Contract type: Full time
MERJE

Location: Edinburgh (Hybrid – 3 days in the office)

MERJE is delighted to be supporting a highly respected UK investment management business in the appointment of a Mandate Compliance Analyst to join its established Portfolio Services function.

Our client is a specialist active investment manager with a strong reputation across equities, fixed income and multi-asset strategies. With approximately £45 billion in assets under management, the business combines the resources of an established investment house with a collaborative, investment-led culture.

This is an excellent opportunity for an investment compliance professional with experience in investment restriction coding, mandate interpretation and pre- and post-trade compliance controls.

The role offers exposure to a broad range of investment strategies, regulatory requirements and client mandates, with a particular emphasis on the technical implementation and maintenance of investment restrictions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Interpret Investment Management Agreements (IMAs), fund prospectuses and regulatory requirements to identify and implement investment restrictions.
  • Code, test and maintain pre- and post-trade compliance rules within investment management systems.
  • Review existing investment restrictions to ensure accurate implementation and ongoing compliance with client mandates and regulatory requirements.
  • Investigate potential investment guideline breaches, working with relevant stakeholders to identify and resolve issues.
  • Support the onboarding of new funds and client mandates, including the interpretation and implementation of investment restrictions.
  • Assist with periodic reviews, compliance audits and the ongoing enhancement of mandate compliance controls.
  • Work closely with investment teams, Portfolio Services and other internal stakeholders to provide technical guidance on investment restrictions.

About You

We are keen to speak with candidates who have experience within investment management, asset management or portfolio compliance, ideally with a background in mandate compliance or investment guideline monitoring.

The successful candidate will ideally demonstrate:

  • Experience interpreting and implementing investment restrictions across funds or segregated client mandates.
  • Hands-on experience coding investment compliance rules, rather than solely monitoring pre- and post-trade alerts.
  • Knowledge of Investment Management Agreements, fund documentation and relevant regulatory frameworks, including UCITS and FCA COLL.
  • Experience using investment compliance platforms such as Charles River, Aladdin, Bloomberg AIM or similar systems.
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail and the ability to interpret complex investment guidelines.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with investment, compliance and operational teams.

Why Apply?

This is an opportunity to join an established and highly regarded investment management business where investment expertise and independent thinking are central to its approach.

You will work within a specialist function, gaining exposure to a diverse range of investment mandates and asset classes while developing your technical expertise in investment compliance and restriction coding.

The business offers a collaborative working environment, a competitive salary and hybrid working arrangements.
