Band 7, Advanced Physiotherapy Practitioner, 22 Hrs
Base: Astley Ainslie Hospital

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join an established Multidisciplinary Community Respiratory Team in Edinburgh. The Edinburgh Community Respiratory Team delivers an admission prevention service for patients with severe COPD and supports the early hospital discharge and longer term management of these patients. The post will be supported by the Community Respiratory Clinical Lead and 10 other Advanced Physiotherapy Practitioners who lead on the management of patients with complex respiratory presentation, including the role of independent medical prescriber. All patients are seen in their own homes.
The Edinburgh Community Respiratory Team is an Interface Service and works collaboratively with primary and secondary care colleagues. The wider team includes Respiratory Consultants, GPs, Advanced Nurse Practitioners, Specialist Psychologists, Integrated Care Pharmacists and the Scottish Ambulance Service. We also work in partnership with third sector organisations such as Grapevine, and Chest Heart and Stroke Scotland.
Applicants for this post must display evidence of expert clinical knowledge and clinical reasoning skills in respiratory physiotherapy. They must be able to manage complex care and synthesise complex problems within the MDT. Applicants must be highly skilled and dynamic utilising high levels of complex decision across all four pillars of practice. Applicants must be able to evidence advanced levels of clinical judgement and have experience of managing clinical risk to ensure that the health needs of patients with COPD are met. Applicants must be able to evidence exceptional communication skills and well demonstrated organisational skills. Experience in leading innovative solutions to improve health outcomes for patients with COPD is welcomed.
Experience of management, supervision, mentorship and appraisal of other staff members and students is essential. The post holder will be actively involved in teaching which will contribute to ongoing service developments. You will be expected to contribute to the current Community Respiratory Team working pattern and a weekend On Call Service.

This post requires the post holder to have a PVG Scheme membership/ record.
